are the homemade ones
Each year the kids and Mike ask me what I would like for Christmas. I never know. I have what I need and most of what I want. Trips to Africa don’t fit in a stocking.
My favorite gifts are the ones that the person put a little bit of their heart into just for me.
I’ve been given some beautiful gifts, these are just a couple…
1* A little clay pot made by Grace at school. I keep it by my writing chair with my pens. My favorite part about it is that I can see some of the little finger prints pushed into the clay before it was fired in the kiln.
2* A portrait drawn of me. I also keep this by my bed. I love it! She captured my big lips and my blue eyes. Some of my favorite features.
3* Four books. One for each season of the year. Mike gave these to me one Christmas when they were blank. His gift was that he would fill them through out the seasons with notes to me. At the end of the year he gave them back to me. I adore these books. They are filled with a year of our life together and they are like sweet nothings whispered in my ear.
4* A book written and illustrated by Mike. He gave me this book one Christmas before Grace was born. It chronicles our life from the time Mike and I met until Miriam and Emma were born. Over the years the kids have given it a Velveteen Rabbit look.
5* The kids together made me a jar of things they knew I would love for them to do for me. (A chore done without complaint, a cuddle on the couch, being read to, I love to sit and watch a movie and have my hair brushed/played with by someone, doing a craft together, going for a walk, etc.) I get to choose a little gift from the jar when the urge strikes.
I hope this Christmas you get what your heart needs.
Merry Christmas!

What thoughtful, special gifts! If my kids gave me coupons for having my hair brushed/played with, I would be in *heaven*! Merry Christmas to all of you.
Why do we love that so much? haha!
