well…sort of…
We didn’t really go to Mexico. It’s cold here so it was nice to pretend.
When we go to Mexico I don’t want to go to the part where it’s all beaches and drinks with umbrellas. I want to go to the places where I can see the everyday people. I think they are interesting and I love the tradition that is so strong in their lives and family. Everything goes back for generations.
In the meantime, we’ll do what we can in South Carolina….
Ideas for having a Mexico date:
*Go to your favorite Mexican restaurant. (ours has a fresh tortilla maker, a sweet older woman who comes around and makes guacamole, and a mariacchi band on Friday, and super delicious food)
*We have a little Mexico place call La Plaza Fiesta where they have handmade items and a Mexican grocery store. We went on got some candy (for the kids, of course) and a few other things.
*Go to the bookstore or library and get a book. Begin learning Spanish.
*While at there get a book on the history and culture of Mexico. This ended up being a little more difficult than we thought it would be. There are a lot of travel books. At the bookstore we went to there wasn’t a single travel book or history book on Mexico. There were a lot for Central America and Cancun but nothing about the rich culture and history of Mexico. I hope you have better luck.
Happy Date Night!
