step back in time.
**note: this is a super fancy date so just get ready!**
Mike and I decided to play video games…but not just any video games. We went in search of our favorite video games from when we were kids. (After our date last week this took a bit of looking.)
That meant finding Galaga and Packman. (Oy!) We got lucky at the Dairy Queen…and that meant we needed to get blizzards too, of course.
While we sat eating delicious creaminess mixed with Resee’s Peanut Butter cups and Heath Bars I found out some things about Mike that I hadn’t known before. (One of them being that Galaga was his fave video game.)
Here are some more tidbits I discovered about my 13 year old husband (well, he’s not 13, now that would be just wrong, but when he was 13…you know what I’m saying.):
His brother Jack turned over Missle Command. This takes getting 1,000,000+ points on an Atari 2600 (the godfather of all video games).
Mike was a video games master on Space Invaders on a New Year’s Eve night in 1983. He turned over the game 7 times for 700,00+ points.
Video games on that Atari 2600 were the place to make history back in 1983-1984.
I grew up wanting to beat the ghosts in Packman. I loved Packman. Mainly, because I didn’t know any other game. We didn’t have video games at our house and I only played them occasionally at friends’ homes. I’m still not that interested in them.
I loved the chance to get to take a step back in time and hear about the night so long ago when Mike and his brother, Jack, became Atari 2600 master champions.
