well…maybe just less chaos!
There have been early mornings when, for some reason, I didn’t set my alarm and we all jump out of bed and run around like there’s just been a drug bust raid at our house. We totally look like a movie, running into each other, trying to grab a quick breakfast, running in and out of the house for this and that forgotten item.
There were other days when we would get up on time but for one unknown reason or another we would still be late! (hear my secret tip that made all the difference at 2:15 on the video)
Hilarious. Yes.
Stressful. Yes.
I’ve tried to fight against routines because I’ve thought that they would keep us from having fun or being creative or spontaneous. In reality, routines, by some kind of magic-ness, make more time for family and create time for having fun together. Plus, when you do something spontaneous…you know you’re being spontaneous!
Here is how our mornings go now (viewing this in your email or rss? click here to view the video below):
A routine doesn’t have to stay one way all of the time. Routine can change and morph into something that works better for your family as it changes and grows. Flexibility is such a big key with families!
No matter what stage your family is in routines based around the things you do everyday will give your kids stability and you and your spouse sanity.
